What Are PDO Threads?
The most effective and commonly used sutures or “threads” currently in use across most of the aesthetic community are called Polydioxanone (PDO) sutures, or “PDO Threads.” In the right patient, these threads give amazing results and are extremely natural-looking, returning the patient to a more youthful and vibrant self.
PDO threads can make a positive difference in the appearance of sagging skin. PDO threads are used as a “lift” of the sagging skin area. The threads increase collagen over time by firming and smoothing the skin, thus offering a voluminous effect on the skin. There are two types of threads: “Smooth Threads,” which help volumize and smooth skin and/or acne scarring and “Lifting or Barbed Threads,” which are thicker and have tiny barbs used to lift the skin.
Collagen is one of the most important elements to help our skin maintain a firm, plump, and fresh appearance. As we age, our bodies do not produce as much collagen, which causes the skin to become thinner and lose volume, resulting in sagging and loose skin. This is typically most noticeable on the face and neck. However, it may also be present in only specific areas such as the eyes, jaw line, nasolabial folds (between our nose and cheeks), and neck. It is also something that can happen to other parts of the body that include the breasts, knees, thighs, buttocks, and upper under arm area.
The PDO Thread Lift is a good alternative for those who are not interested in a surgical facelift. The procedure, depending upon the area(s) being treated, can take anywhere from an hour to 2.5 hours.

The ideal candidate for a thread lift is typically in their early 30’s to mid 60’s, depending on good health. Also, anyone wanting to tighten sagging skin and “lift” areas that are wrinkled or drooping and is not interested in surgery.
Is the “About Invigorate” section the language you want to use to replace the same section on every page, but it just does not state “About Invigorate” at the top? I corrected just a couple of things below. Also, the info in this section is almost the very same info that I’m referencing from the bottom of other pages. It looks like it is repeated at the bottom of the PDO threads page as well, so I would delete one of them.

The first biodegradable sutures were approved in the 1960’s for medical use for different types of surgery. In the early 1990’s, a plastic surgeon cut notches in the surgical sutures he was using to implement on a car accident victim’s face by threading them under the skin. He created a “sling,” which aided in moving her cheek back into the correct position. After use on many trauma victims, this plastic surgeon felt these mesh sutures, or “threads,” would be a good aesthetic tool. Other physicians followed suit in utilizing and creating various types of “threads” over the years. Most, however, were non-absorbable and eventually taken off the market for aesthetic use.
Around 2010, surgeons in Korea began using Polydioxanone (PDO) sutures, “threads” for aesthetic lifting and tightening of the skin. PDO threads were FDA approved in 2016 and considered strong and flexible and safely absorbed into the body about 4-6 months after insertion. The thread material aids in stimulating collagen, tightening the skin and offering a lifted appearance for approximately 10-15 months after the procedure. Depending upon the individual and the area of the face or body, results may last from 1-3 years.
There are different types of PDO Threads available. Each PDO thread product has distinct qualities that make that brand unique. Nova Threads: The Nova Thread procedure (one of the threads we offer) begins with the practitioner threading thin, dissolvable sutures underneath your skin using a cannula. Invisible “barbs” grab on to your skin to ensure the thread grips to your underlying tissue and muscles as the thread is pulled tight. This process works in two ways: it tightens the skin and, over time, the barbs stimulate collagen production, creating volume in the face. Your body’s healing response is triggered by the suture barb. As your body detects a change, the suture material stimulates collagen production in the affected area. Collagen will fill gaps in sagging skin and restore a more youthful appearance in the treated area.
Silhouette Threads (Also Known as Insta Lift): The Silhouette Thread procedure (one of the threads we offer) are molded to form barbs that encircle the thread. These barbs are at opposing angles at either end, so that the skin stays in place; they do not use a cannula. These threads will have an entry point and an exit point. Once the skin heals, those points become completely invisible.
After receiving NovaThreads, patients can experience a lifted appearance with improved facial contouring for one year or longer. On average, NovaThreads results last between six to 12 months. Patients require additional treatments to maintain results past that period.
Immediately following the InstaLift procedure, you will experience an instant lifting effect following the placement of InstaLift sutures. However, results will improve for approximately three to six months as the sutures and cones are naturally broken down and eliminated by the body. Collagen production will also be stimulated in the treated areas. Results vary by patient, but on average, the duration of skin tightening results following Silhouette InstaLift lasts for 12-18 months.
