Beauty Is In The Eyes!

What Are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are synthetic lashes that are adhered to individual natural lashes. There are many reasons one would want or need lash extensions.Β  Typically lash extensions are desired to add volume and length or the client simply no longer wants the daily hassle of applying mascara or strip lashes.Β  It is a cosmetic application that enhances the length, curl, fullness and thickness of natural eyelashes.

Applications

Typically there are three types of style applications:

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Most women are candidates. Most people opt for lash extensions for lower maintenance, with the time to put on mascara decreasing, as well as minimizing the mess and frustration.

For Lash extensions to work, and for a long period of time, it is based on the quality of the client’s own lashes. If a client has very thin, fine, and short lashes, generally, it is not recommended because the lashes need something to adhere to. If they are very thin, they will not support the enhanced extensions for any lengthy period. Should individual lash extensions not be an option, Strip lashes can be a good alternative. However, it is rare that a client comes in who is not a candidate for extensions.

It is the lash technician’s responsibility to use her expertise in determining what style is best for the client, to be able to maintain the integrity of the natural lash. For example, if too long of a synthetic lash is applied to a very short lash, the lash will flip or damage the natural lash. It is important to determine weight and length when applying lash extensions.

What Products Do We Use?

Dream Flower Lashes and Lash Savvy are the vendors of choice at Invigorate Advanced Aesthetics. Lara Krupa, our Senior Aesthetics Practitioner, has been doing lash extensions for over a decade, and after trying close to one hundred different brands, she landed on Dream Flower Lashes and Lash Savvy. She chose these brands because they are light and fluffy and do not weigh the natural lashes down, yet they provide a dense dark appearance. The lash adhesive we use was chosen because of its durability and ability to be sustained by our clients’ lashes.

The length of the lashes start at 8 and go up to 20.Β  Typically, black lashes are used but there are fun colors to play with to add a pop of color and express your own unique style.

Clients can choose from three different curl types:Β  C–CC–D.

FAQs

Natural lashes shed every couple of weeks allowing for new baby lashes to come in.Β  Because of this, it is recommended to come in for a fill every two weeks to reset the lash line and fill in areas that have been lost. During the fill, we will also correct lash extensions that have grown out too far from the base of the lash line, which causes flipping to occur.

  • Do not sleep on your faceΒ
  • Do not expose your face to excessive amounts of steam
  • Avoid products with oil as it will collapse the lash bundlesΒ
  • Do not tug or pull on lashes
  • Avoid getting your eye area and lashes wet for the first 24 hours
  • Do not use makeup remover wipes on lashes

No, the lashes will not damage your natural lashes if applied correctly.Β  It is encouraged for clients to use a lash growth serum of their choice, to feed and nourish their natural lashes as well as stimulate constant new growth.

Mascara is not needed with the extensions as they do provide a dark full look.Β  However, as the lashes fall out toward the end of your pre-fill period, you may consider adding a little mascara to your own natural lashes to help balance them out visually.Β  If needed, ONLY wear water-based mascara;Β do not wear waterproof mascaraΒ as this may damage the bond of the eyelash extensions.

Lara (our lash expert) has been a lash artist since 2010.Β  Typically, it will take one hour for a natural full set and an hour and a half for a volume full set of lashes.Β  It is best for the client to come in with fresh clean lashes prior to service.

Fills for the lashes will take about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the amount of work that needs to be done.

Please come to your appointment with a clean lash line, free of mascara and makeup.
